The William pear has juicy and sweet flesh, and each carafe of Giffard Poire William Eaux De Vie comes with a pear from an orchard of Maine et Loire in France. Every year in spring, the carafes are hung on the pear tree so that the fruit ripens inside the bottle, and they are held in place with nets. During harvesting in the fall, poorly formed fruits are eliminated, and the best bottles are then filled with slowly distilled Poire William brandy. Best enjoyed neat on the rocks as a digestive.
